James F. Clapp

Jim received a B.A., with distinction, from the University of Virginia in 1986. He attended Northwestern University School of Law, where he was elected to the Editorial Board of one of Northwestern's law journals. He earned his law degree from Northwestern in 1989.

During the first five years of his practice, Jim was a litigation attorney with San Diego's largest law firm, Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich. In 1995, Jim co-founded the law firm of Dostart Clapp & Coveney, LLP, where serves as the Chairman of the firm's Overtime Law Group.

Over his 17-year career, Jim has protected the rights of current and former employees against such companies as Wal-Mart, Target Stores, Bridgestone/ Firestone, Borders Books and United Airlines. He has successfully tried numerous jury and non-jury cases.

Marita attended the University of Southern California and received a B.S. in Business Administration in 1985. She earned an M.B.A. from San Diego State University in 1992. In 1998, Marita earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego where she previously received her Paralegal Certificate.

Marita was employed with Carter Hawley Hale department stores from 1986 to 1993. Her legal experience includes working as a paralegal at McInnis, Fitzgerald, Rees & Sharkey from 1993 to 1999 and as a litigation attorney with Callahan, McCune & Willis, LLP, prior to joining Dostart Clapp Gordon & Coveney, LLP.

Marita M. Lauinger

Kevin received a B.A. and an M.B.A. from the University of San Diego in 1989 and 1991, respectively. He attended law school at the University of San Diego, where he was elected Vice President of Phi Delta Phi, a Legal Honor Fraternity.

Kevin earned his law degree, with honors, in 1998, and his LL.M. in Taxation, 2003. Kevin joined the firm in 1999 and became a partner in 2006.
